Katy AC installation without the equipment markup
Two systems, two replacements, two big markups. Katy homeowners with multi-system homes save the most by buying equipment direct. We install it right, for a flat rate.

Built in the boom, now due for replacement
Katy grew fast in the 2000s and 2010s, and so did its HVAC systems. Thousands of homes in Cinco Ranch, Seven Meadows, Grand Lakes and Firethorne were built with builder-grade equipment that's now 12 to 20 years old. Many of those homes have two systems: one for downstairs and one for the upstairs bedrooms.
When a traditional contractor quotes two complete systems with a hefty markup on each, the total gets painful fast. With My AC Dude you buy both systems direct, we confirm they're correctly sized for each floor, and we install them together in a single visit.
AC challenges we see in Katy homes
- Hot, struggling upstairs systems. Second-floor units in attics fight the hottest air in the house. Proper sizing, attic airflow and a matched coil make a huge difference in upstairs comfort.
- Builder-grade first-generation equipment. Original R-410A systems are reaching end of life. Newer systems use R-454B or R-32 refrigerant, so the indoor coil typically needs to be replaced too.
- HOA placement rules. Many Katy communities have guidelines about visible equipment and screening. We keep replacements on the existing pad location whenever possible.
- Clogged attic drain lines. We see a lot of ceiling stains from overflowing pans. Every install includes a secondary pan and float safety switch.

Katy AC installation FAQs
Should I replace both of my Katy home's systems at once?
If both are the same age and showing their years, replacing them together usually saves money on labor and gives you matched efficiency throughout the house. If one is much newer, we can replace just the failing system.
Is my upstairs unit the right size?
Upstairs systems are often oversized to compensate for heat gain, which leads to humidity problems. During approval we look at the square footage, insulation and window exposure of each floor separately.
Do you need HOA approval to replace my AC?
Like-for-like replacements in the same location usually don't, but rules vary by community. If you're relocating equipment or adding a unit, check with your HOA first and we'll provide equipment specs if they ask.
