Spring AC installation for homes ready to retire R-22
If your outdoor unit is rusty, loud and older than your kids, it's time. Buy a modern, efficient system direct and we'll replace the whole thing properly, for a flat rate.

Plenty of 80s and 90s homes still running original-era systems
Spring has a big mix of housing, from 1970s and 80s neighborhoods around Champion Forest and Klein to newer communities like Gleannloch Farms and Augusta Pines. We still find plenty of homes running R-22 air conditioners, a refrigerant that's no longer produced and has become very expensive to recharge.
When an R-22 system leaks, the repair bill can be shocking, and that's often when a contractor pushes an inflated replacement quote. Instead, buy a correctly matched new system at retail and pay a fair, flat price for professional installation.
AC challenges we see in Spring homes
- Phased-out R-22 refrigerant. Recharging an old system is costly, and new systems can't reuse an R-22 coil. A full, matched replacement is usually the smart move.
- Line sets that need replacing. Old lines may be undersized or contaminated with incompatible oil. We flush or replace them so your new warranty stays intact.
- Garage and closet furnaces. Many older Spring homes have equipment in a hallway closet or garage, which can make for an easier, faster install.
- Electrical updates. Older disconnects and wiring may not meet today's requirements. We replace the disconnect and whip as part of every install.

Spring AC installation FAQs
Can I just replace my R-22 outdoor unit?
Not with a modern refrigerant system. New condensers need a matching indoor coil and clean, properly sized line set. Mixing old and new leads to poor efficiency and voided warranties.
How do I know if my system uses R-22?
Check the data plate on the outdoor unit; it lists the refrigerant type. As a rule of thumb, most systems installed before 2010 use R-22. Send us a photo and we'll confirm.
Is it worth repairing a 20-year-old AC?
Small, inexpensive repairs can be. Major repairs on an R-22 system, like a compressor or refrigerant leak, usually aren't. We'll give you an honest recommendation.
